Caritas is searching for an Executive Director.

Caritas, a Feeding America Partner, is a non-profit community resource center providing food and other necessities of life to our neighbors struggling with poverty and food insecurity.  The mission of Caritas is to use our resources to enhance human dignity, community, and opportunity in Beloit and the surrounding area.  Caritas was founded 50 years ago through a collaboration of local religious leaders, businesses, and community organizations, and the support of these entities continues strongly to this day.  Currently, Caritas is housed in its own facility, where food and other items are stored and distributed.  Most distribution occurs via an onsite grocery store and drive-through service.  In addition to the main facility, Caritas owns land around the facility, allowing for individual garden boxes where neighbors can grow their own food.

Serving those who live in the Beloit Stateline area, Caritas is committed to supporting the health of our neighbors by prioritizing the distribution of recommended USDA’s MyPlate foods and nutrients.  The range of services Caritas provides includes: Food Pantry (shopping and drive-through), Diaper Bank, Community Garden, Birthday Bags, and (on a limited basis) hygiene products, pet food, and baby clothes.

The Board of Directors is seeking an Executive Director who is passionate about serving individuals and families struggling with food insecurity and addressing issues facing people in poverty. We are searching for a creative, visionary leader with excellent relationship, management, grant writing, and financial skills to ensure Caritas continues to be a vital asset to our community by serving our neighbors for at least another 50 years.

Our next Executive Director will:

  • Be comfortable fostering new relationships with those in need, food supply donors and financial donors of all types.
  • Be a compassionate, yet efficient and visionary manager of a staff team and a large pool of volunteers.
  • Be the face of Caritas to the Beloit Stateline Area.
  • Work with an executive board and at-large board to manage finances, food resources, and future operations.
  • Be responsible for tracking all the incoming and outgoing inventory.
  • Be responsible for all compliance and reporting to appropriate agencies and/or officials.
  • Lead successful grant writing and other funding/fundraising efforts.
  • Manage day-to-day operations by being on site during store hours and at other times when it is necessary.

This is a salaried position.  The organization currently has 7 hourly employees and depends heavily on dedicated volunteers.  The board is currently exploring benefit packages.

Reports to:  Board of Directors

Summary:  The Executive Director is the key management leader of Caritas.  The executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, food acquisition, programs, finances, and strategic plan.  Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, grant writing, advocacy and leading, managing, and participating in the day-to-day operations of all programs and community outreach.
